A recycling and grinding operation serving more than a dozen states depends on Travero for up to ten weekly runs, accommodating material-specific requirements.
Recycling customers tend to struggle to find carriers who will accommodate a wide range of materials and ensure drivers meet the requirements that go along with each. The pool of potential drivers and trailers is significantly diminished for recycling operations because of potential contamination and extra regulations. Meanwhile, interest in recycling has grown dramatically, and the need is greater than ever.
We’ve developed longstanding relationships with private and public recycling operations based on our attention to detail and our track record of problem-solving to ensure that each load is handled with appropriate care. For our recycling and grinding client, that means having an in-depth knowledge of the recycling process, being able to bill by hundredweight, accommodate blind billing, and secure less-than-truckload shipping.
Recycling is a critical service and one we’re glad to support, and it comes with a fair number of challenges. It also carries a stigma among drivers, who are understandably concerned about debris in their trailers. Our objective has been to serve as a knowledgeable, forthcoming facilitator—keeping drivers informed and our client’s product moving.
What works for raw plastic isn’t the same as baled newspaper or ground pellets and having the experience to recognize and accommodate various needs keeps loads running on schedule. Qualifying the product itself and how it’s packaged before contracting with a driver is a big part of that. Knowing ahead of time that a washout will be required, for example, keeps everyone on schedule.
Our familiarity with the client’s needs, incoming raw materials, and outgoing products -- combined with our strong carrier relationships -- ensures their success.
